Car Blogs

I’m a car nut. For the last 7 years my passion has been about my ’88 Porsche 911 Carrera coupe and my ’95 BMW 540 M-Sport 6-Speed. It’s high time I started posting the occasional blog entires about my cars. You’ll find these posts under the Car category…

While reading posts on the M-Sport mailing list I noticed that Ren Finley, another M-Sport fanantic (Ren’s a bit more of a purist than me so he refuses to add the “M-” to Sport) has a blog now. He talks about getting a new clutch built for his car. I’m due in 5-10K miles so I am looking forward to hearing how this SPEC Stage III clutch works out.

I recently had to replace the “thrust bushings” on my M-Sport and choose to go with polyurethane bushings. Bad move. They are way too harsh on the roads I drive daily. Feels like the EDC suspension is always in Sport mode. I’m going to rip them out and replace them with ’95 M5 bushings instead.

When I hit 40, I decided that I was going to go out and get a 911 but my wife put the brakes on that. I had to settle for ’02 530i. After we bought the 530i she said I could have gotten the M5. Doh!

I have a 2003 Didge SX 2.0, and lately, there has been a weird squeaking noise coming from the front wheels. I highly doubt if it had anything to do with the noise, but it was nonexistent until we had an oil change done a couple weeks ago. It sounds like crickets in the hubcaps, and it is constant…NOT just turning corners. Does anyone have any suggestions?

It was an irreversible mistake that I have made by purchasing a BMW.

You may be enjoying your BMW until something goes wrong to find out that BMW does not follow through with their promises after they made you paid so much money in advance for their service.

You may pay $60 to an AAA Plus membership and they will tow your car for the first 100 miles plus a nominal fee per mile over the 100 miles mark. However, you have paid 20-25 times that amount to BMW Assist and they will not even tow you car to your preferred location.

You get calls almost every day while the vehicle is running fine. But no one calls when something happens. It is all about marketing strategies. They show the customers they care just about enough to screw them over.

There are plenty of other luxurious vehicles to choose from other than BMW. I was so excited to drive my first new BMW and in a blink of a month they have killed that dream.

I just could not make up my mind whether I wanted a BMW or a Mercedes Benz. But I am about to think that I have made a mistake. But all I can do now is to try as much as I can, forget what has happened and what is going to happen, to enjoy my BMW vehicle anyway, if ever I can get it back from BMW and if ever I can convert my frustration, disappointment, and anger into a positive feeling toward my supposedly dream car.

    The frustrated BMW Owner!

You actually have a good taste on cars.. Talking bout my fascination, all I wanted is a Buick Enclave.. It’s one of my best priorities in terms of buying a car, but can’t help noticing the Porsche Carrera too.

  11. What do you think of classic muscle cars — with no computers, no airbags, no power steering, brakes, windows, a/c — manual everything, might have belts, drum brakes, carbs, crank windows, am radio?
